Privacy policy
Last updated:
This document is a draft and is still being reviewed. The terms in your written quote and booking confirmation apply to your booking.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use this website or contact us, why we collect it, and the rights you have. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies to visitors in the European Economic Area, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible
The controller responsible for processing your data is SwissAlpira, Hochwachtstrasse 3, 8135 Langnau am Albis, Switzerland, telephone +41 77 421 81 12, email enquiries@swissalpira.com.
For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights, contact us at the address or telephone number above.
What we collect
We only collect data that you give us or that is technically necessary to deliver the website:
- Enquiry and contact forms: your name, email address, telephone number and the travel details you enter, such as dates, places, number of passengers, luggage, flight number, the ages of children needing child seats and any notes.
- Messages and calls: when you call us or write to us by WhatsApp, we receive your telephone number and the content of your messages.
- Server logs: when you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically records technical data such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser type. This is needed to deliver the site securely.
Please only give us details about other travellers, such as children’s ages, if they are needed to plan the journey and you are entitled to share them.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry, prepare a quote and, if you accept it, carry out the journey (performance of a contract or steps before entering into one).
- To keep the website secure and protect it against misuse, for example by limiting the number of form submissions (our legitimate interest).
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping business records.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not create profiles.
Cookies, analytics and fonts
This website does not use cookies for tracking, analytics or advertising, and does not include third-party tracking tools.
If you choose a language with the language selector, we store that choice in a small functional cookie (“sa-locale”) for up to twelve months, so that the site opens in your language next time. It contains nothing but the language code.
Fonts are delivered from our own server, so visiting the site does not send your data to font providers. Links to maps open Google Maps only when you choose to click them, and links to WhatsApp open WhatsApp only when you click them; their own privacy policies then apply.
Who receives your data
We share data only where needed for the purposes above:
- Our website hosting provider, which processes server logs and form submissions on our behalf.
- Our email service provider, which delivers form submissions to our inbox. Depending on the provider chosen, this may involve processing outside Switzerland, including in the United States.
- Our database hosting provider, which stores enquiries on our behalf so that we can handle them and keep the records required by law.
- Google (Google Maps Platform), when you use an address field that offers suggestions: the characters you type are sent to Google to suggest matching places, and Google may process your IP address. The suggestion service is only loaded once you start using such a field.
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms), if you choose to contact us by WhatsApp.
- Partners involved in your journey, such as a hotel or another transport provider, only where needed to carry it out and with your knowledge.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose data.
Where data is transferred to a country without adequate data protection, we rely on safeguards recognised under Swiss law, such as the standard contractual clauses approved by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, or on an exception provided by law, for example where the transfer is necessary to perform a contract with you.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted after twelve months at the latest. Data relating to bookings is kept for as long as required by Swiss commercial and tax law, generally ten years. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes only.
Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it to deal with your request.
Your rights
Within the limits of applicable law, you have the right to:
- request information about the personal data we hold about you;
- have incorrect data corrected;
- have your data deleted or its processing restricted;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- receive data you gave us in a common electronic format.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the details above. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or, if you live in the EEA, with the data protection authority in your country.
Changes
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The version published on this page applies.
