Description
Two highlights of northern Switzerland, about 30 minutes from Zurich: the Rhine Falls, one of Europe’s most impressive waterfalls, and Stein am Rhein, one of the country’s best-preserved medieval towns.
At the falls you have about an hour on the paths and viewing platforms below Laufen Castle; in summer a boat trip is part of the visit. The drive then continues through the countryside to Stein am Rhein, with its cobbled lanes, half-timbered houses and painted façades.
The pace is yours: more time where you enjoy it, photo stops on the way, and no group schedule.

A drive of about 30 minutes from Zurich through the fields and farms of the north.
Rhine Falls
About an hour at the falls: panoramic paths, viewing platforms and Laufen Castle above the water. In summer, a boat trip.
Stein am Rhein
A walk through the medieval town, with its half-timbered houses, painted façades and squares, and time for a meal and the shops.
Return
Drive back to Zurich, about 30 minutes.

- There are several stairs and uneven paths, especially around the Rhine Falls viewpoints.
- Not recommended for guests with limited mobility, and not suitable for wheelchairs.
- Infant seats are available. Infants need their own seat and must not sit on a lap.
- Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.
